Students applying to universities that either require or allow the ACT are encouraged to investigate the test score criteria of the institutions they are interested in. While only a small number of schools explicitly mention a minimum test score prerequisite, one can deduce their expectations by examining the scores of the students they have admitted, which are accessible to everyone. The ACT participation rate for the most recent first-year class at the University of Wisconsin's main campus in Madison stands at around 84%. Among these freshmen, approximately 75% attained combined ACT results of 27 or higher, while over 50% achieved mixed results of 30 or above. It is worth noting that a combined effect of 27 corresponds to the 86th percentile among all test-takers, whereas a combined result of 30 places students in the 94th percentile. UW-Madison reports that 97% of the most recent incoming students achieved a minimum ACT score of 24. While the university does not officially mandate this score, it can be seen as a fundamental benchmark.
